About One08
How it began
In the summer of 2006, Chris Obergfell, as a recent graduate, began to seek out opportunities to start building a portfolio to help him find a full time position in the digital advertising industry. After landing a few small freelance jobs, Chris founded his own digital business, one08. Named after the room number he spent most of his life in his last year of school, one08 successfully landed a number of small jobs that helped propel Chris into the digital advertising world. Once he became a professional in the industry, one08 took a back seat and remained dormant for 4 years.
Partnerships and a new life
While working as an Art Director for the Toronto based digital advertising agency Dashboard, Chris developed friendships with members of the development team, David Blonski and Anthony Sapp. Working together on a daily basis the three began to perfect the process of bridging the gap between
creative and programming allowing them to meld the two worlds seamlessly. Soon, talks began between the three whether over beers after work or over more beers and barbequing (one of our favourite pastimes) about working together on some personal projects. Soon after, David, being an avid motorcycle rider and member of the Toronto rider community propositioned Chris to develop creative for a safety awareness site, Riders for Road Awareness. This gave one08 some new life after four years of lying dormant.
Crank it to 11 one08 is ready to go
After dusting off one08 during the development of Riders for Road Awareness, Chris offered partnerships in the business to David and Anthony; the brand new web design was ready to go. The three now bring their combined industry experience and passion for what they do to small businesses throughout North America. One08 has seen enormous success in its very new life and continues to grow as a side project between the three.
